Spoons to Host a Kitchenware Sale at Chatham University

We're excited to share a fantastic opportunity for us to make a real difference in the lives of local students. Spoons Kitchen Exchange is working with Chatham University, with support from the PA Hunger-Free Campus Grant, to provide essential cookware to students on campus.

We are sourcing used kitchenware for a student sale event on Thursday, October 17. This initiative not only aims to support students but also promotes sustainability through the reuse of kitchen items. By giving unused kitchenware, you’re playing a crucial role in empowering students to prepare healthy meals while also reducing waste.

Many students arrive on campus with limited resources, and the ability to cook for themselves can be a game-changer. Cooking is not just about saving money; it’s about nutrition, self-sufficiency, and mental well-being.

We have identified specific items that are in high demand:

  • Vegetable peelers
  • Can openers
  • Colanders
  • Cutting boards
  • Any other basic cookware suited for students

Also consider those kitchen tools you rarely use – that extra spatula, measuring cups, or mixing bowls could find new life in a student's kitchen, enabling them to whip up nutritious meals.

We need your help

Your contribution goes beyond giving or selling an item to us. By participating in this kitchenware drive, you're investigating in a student's well-being and sustainable future. Plus, by repurposing cookware, you’re helping to create a more sustainable community by giving new life to gently used items that might otherwise end up in landfills.

We've made it incredibly easy to participate. If you have kitchenware to give, we can a coordinate pickup to ensure that your generous contribution reaches the students in need.

If you are an estate sale company or other small business with excess inventory, please contact us if you have our requested items available for low prices. We will pass those savings directly to students, ensuring the lowest prices possible.

Let's come together as a community to support our local students and make this kitchenware drive a resounding success.
