Spoons is Partnering with Chatham University

We're excited to share a fantastic opportunity for us to make a real difference in the lives of local students. Spoons Kitchen Exchange is working with Chatham University, with support from the PA Hunger-Free Campus Grant, to provide essential cookware to students on campus.

We are sourcing used kitchenware to be distributed for free at on-campus produce giveaway events. This initiative not only aims to support students but also promotes sustainability through the reuse of kitchen items. By giving unused kitchenware, you’re playing a crucial role in empowering students to prepare healthy meals while also reducing waste.

Many students arrive on campus with limited resources, and the ability to cook for themselves can be a game-changer. Cooking is not just about saving money; it’s about nutrition, self-sufficiency, and mental well-being.

Consider those kitchen tools you rarely use – that extra spatula, measuring cups, or mixing bowls could find new life in a student's kitchen, enabling them to whip up nutritious meals.

We have identified specific items that are in high demand:

  • Vegetable peelers
  • Can openers
  • Colanders
  • Cutting boards
  • Metal mixing bowls
  • Metal baking pans
  • Eating utensils
  • Steamer baskets
  • Metal cooking spatulas and slotted spoons
  • Wood spoons
  • Glass food storage container (large enough to hold a meal)
  • Saucepans
  • Reusable grocery bags

We need your help

If you are an individual, estate sale company or other small business with excess inventory, please contact us if you have our requested items available for low prices or free.

Your contribution goes beyond giving or selling items to us. By participating in this kitchenware drive, you're investigating in a student's well-being and sustainable future. Plus, by repurposing cookware, you’re helping to create a more sustainable community by giving new life to gently used items that might otherwise end up in landfills.

In the event we source an excess of kitchenware, we will set aside those pieces for future donation drives (they will not be sold for profit in our store).

Read our FAQ for more information on our pricing policies.
