Spoons Kitchen Exchange believes that veganism is a great choice we can make for our fellow animals, our planet, and ourselves. Ask us how you can get started going vegan.
We're not here to make a killing—we're here to make a living!
We aim to provide resources that make vegan meals accessible, affordable, and utterly delicious—all while free from animal exploitation. We love being vegan and you can, too!
What is Veganism?
Veganism is against the exploitation and abuse of all animals, simple as that.
We value the work of groups like Apex Advocacy who expand the definition to include that:
One of the most powerful things we can do to end animal exploitation is to change what's on our dinner plate. We refuse to support animal exploitation in any product we eat, wear, or use.
But veganism isn't about deprivation. In our experience, going vegan has expanded not just our mindset and empathy, but also our palates. A vegan diet is nutritionally complete without sacrificing flavor, and we want to show you how.
How we're a vegan business
Products
- We focus on carrying products that help our customers make delicious plant-based food.
- We don’t use animal-based products like beeswax for refurbishing items.
- We don’t carry any new or used items containing animal products, such as bone china or cow leather, or source newly manufactured products that were developed using animal testing.
- We don't carry kitchenware that are solely used for animal-based ingredients and cannot be repurposed. Examples of items we've refused to sell include a used jerky cannon (yes really) or a chicken roasting rack.
Resources
- We publish vegan recipes on our digital and print resources.
- We teach our customers how to repurpose kitchen tools, like meat grinders and steak knives, for plant-based recipes.
Workplace and Partnerships
- We only purchase vegan food for our employees and customers, source locally produced food whenever possible, and implement zero-waste practices to divert food waste.
- We only work with food and beverage vendors that provide at least one vegan option on their menus, and prioritize partnerships with vegan-focused businesses.
- We donate 5% of our proceeds to nonprofit organizations and mutual aid groups that support animal rights and veganism through our FEED EVERYONE program.
Can I still shop at Spoons Kitchen Exchange if I'm not vegan?
We recognize that our customers’ dietary decisions will differ from ours, and that they might use our items to cook and eat animal products. We're here to help you find delicious ways to add more plant-based food to your routine. Whatever your diet, vegans and omnivores alike are all welcome at Spoons Kitchen Exchange!
